In 2006, Emma Gilbert, Cleo Sertori, and Rikki Chadwick were in the Moon Pool just as the Full Moon was over it and they unintentionally became mermaids. In late 1990's, a young girl named Isabella Hartley became unintentionally a mermaid at the age of nine, by being in a Moon Pool located in the Irish coast, known as Sea Caves of Ireland, in the same place Eva created the original Tower of Light almost three centuries earlier. Later, she found a gem at the bottom of the Irish Moon Pool and handcrafted herself a crystal necklace in which she's worn ever since. Later, when she was finally free of her tail and magical power, Gracie ended her friendship with Louise and Julia and broke up with her boyfriend Max Hamilton, and ultimately ended her mermaid life once for all. Two years later, in 1957, Gracie gave up her life as a mermaid by becoming a human again when the Moon of 50 Years was over the Moon Pool. In 1955, Louise Chatham, Gracie and Julia became mermaids in a Moon Pool located at the heart of Mako Island. Once her work was done, she disappeared, never to be seen again. In early 1700's, an Irish mermaid named Eva used her abilities in a Moon Pool located in the Irish coast, known as Sea Caves of Ireland to save those around her from a comet that was later named after her.
In ancient times, the very first mystical Moon Pool located at the heart of Mako Island became the magical source of hundreds of Southern mermaids and mermen who took refuge and came to live on its reef. One of the lunar rock shards impacted on the Irish coast, creating an alternative Moon Pool in a set of sea caves. A pod of Southern merpeople that later became the Mako Pod, and possibly worldwide mermaids got their respective merpeople abilities. With the creation of Mako Island, the first Moon Pool was established at its heart.
